Organizing an event can be really challenging, especially when running a large scale event, which requires a lot of hands on deck and executing plans long before the D-Day. The worst part, is to see all you’ve been working for crumble to the ground, and that will be the end story if proper measures are not taken. No matter the place, date or time you’ll be hosting the event, you need to make sure the power stays on throughout the whole event without any interruptions. We are going to look at ways you can ensure power safety at any given event, whether on a large or small scale.

#1. Make Sure There’s Sufficient Power Supply

Ensure that, where ever your event might be taking place, whether indoors or outdoors, generators that can be easily moved around are available. Having the source of power coming from another building might be very inconvenient. It is much safer and preferable to run your power source straight from the circuit nearby, hence, if there’s any cause for alarm, you can easily figure out where the problem is and solve it ASAP. Take your time to read thorough the manuals before using the power supplies. Read and follow all relevant user manuals of important equipment and take note of the emergency numbers listed while setting the lightening and sound system up. Cheap equipment might save you some cash in the short term, but at the end you may be sorry and have to spend much more than you bargained for.

#2. Power Cords and Extension

Any of the events that you will be managing that require you to use a sound system and mic need you to have enough cable, extension and power cords. Take safety measures before ever plugging in any equipment to be used. Do not try to overload any extension cord and there should be ample space between each power source. In any case, if your event is held outdoors, do not attempt running cables and cords from any building, this can trigger, accidents or fire hazards. A three prong plug will be more advisable to connect to, than a 2-prong plug, when using heavy duty equipment. To ensure cords and cable are properly placed, use masking tape or adhesive putty to hold down the cable, and ensure the wires are not scattered randomly.

#3. Firefighters Should Be On Standby At The Event

Firefighters should be informed well ahead of time to be present on the day of the event. Contact them and brief them on what you’ll need them for. Let them check for any power source that might be a threat to safety or power shortage, and get them to fix the issue before the day of the event.

Having done all this and and thoroughly cross checking over and over again, you’ll be good to go. Remember to be calm, and entertain your guest at the same time, do not lose focus of the event. Enjoy, have fun, be safe, and give your guest your very best.
